I was first licensed while living in KS in 1995. Shortly after getting my license, I moved and became inactive due to job, family activities and other things. Generally life.

After the Joplin Tornado in 2011, I decided to get active again in Ham radio and joined the Benton County Radio Operators club. Since then I have upgrade my license to General on 6/11/2012 and again to Extra on 3/22/2014. I like working public service communications events and other club activities.

The journey will be fun, and I’ll be recording my experiences on this blog.

Basic WAS completed April 2015.

Hey Wayne, I’m interested in that Portable Station build you made some years back. I’ve been looking at the Hammo Can radio that’s for sale commercially, but really like all the stuff you have set up with your Portable Station you built. I’ve pulled a list of all the parts I can see from the pictures you posted in Build Part 2. It’s a pretty penny for sure, but I like it. I added some other stuff to my list like solar backup and such. Anyways, I was wanting to pick your brain on the build you made. Drop me an email at wardnuke@gmail.com if you’d be willing to share some of your knowledge. Thanks.

  2. Good blog Wayne with really good info. ..looking forward to seeing more – N5PUV.
